Doug and His P-47D

The Republic P-47 was the largest and heaviest single engined fighter to see duty during World War Two. This Bluecor replica was made from an enlarged Paul Bradley contest profile scale plan for a rubber powered free flight model. It's profile and outline are supposed to be very accurate. The only deviation from scale is the generous dihedral added, in order that the plane will turn with 3 channel, rudder, elevator control. Currently the plane is powered by a GWS 350C geared brushed motor with the C ratio gears spinning a GWS 9-7 SF prop. It flys well on Nimh batteries for park patrol duties, and with it's chubby fuselage and eliptical wings there is no mistaking this "jug" for any other fighter. Completed weight, without battery is a portly 9 ounces.
